October 23, 2007 – GigaTrust Provides U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs with Next Generation Secure Message and Content Delivery Solution
GigaTrust’s Intelligent Rights Management™ Solution a Key Element to the Largest Deployment of Microsoft’s Rights Management Services
HERNDON, Va. Oct. 23, 2007— GigaTrust today announced that it is providing an enterprisewide solution to extend and enhance Microsoft Rights Management Services for Windows Server 2003 to secure email and documents being deployed in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The GigaTrust solution will allow the secure delivery and use of email and documents on BlackBerry handheld devices. Additionally GigaTrust will facilitate secure communication and collaboration between the Department of Veterans Affairs and more than 1,200 hospitals that provide valuable healthcare services to veterans across the country.
”We applaud the VA for taking a leadership position by implementing this secure solution to make data sent outside the enterprise safe from tampering. The ability to do this is not only a top priority at the VA, but for all agencies that have a growing population of mobile workers utilizing laptops and mobile devices such as the BlackBerry,” said Lesley Gorog Harris, Vice President, Public Sector. “We are proud to partner with the VA in this important strategic initiative.”
“The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is receiving one of the industry’s leading security solutions through the capabilities of Windows Rights Management Services and GigaTrust’s RMS-based offerings,” said Doug Leland, General Manager of Identity and Access, Microsoft Corp. “GigaTrust will facilitate the complete Windows Rights Management Services deployment, while extending the reach of RMS to a variety of different formats and devices.”
Intelligent Rights Management™, the core of GigaTrust’s solution, is a suite of software products that extend Windows Rights Management Services-based secure collaboration across organization boundaries. GigaTrust’s enterprise offering extends an internal Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services deployment beyond the enterprise network by streamlining the process for content recipients. With GigaTrust, recipients receive secure RMS-protected content or emails without the need to download a stored software client – a first. Also, BlackBerry users can receive and apply Windows Rights Management Services protection to incoming and outgoing email responses and messages.
Finally, rights management allows organizations to establish and enforce corporate policies to protect sensitive information such as e-mails and define what the trusted recipient can do with the data. As an example, the solution can enforce a “view only” feature on the recipient’s computer and prohibit the email and attachments from being forwarded, printed, copied/pasted, saved as and screen printed.
