January 13, 2010 — GigaTrust Partners with DataViz to License Documents To Go
GigaTrust Releases First and Only BlackBerry RMS Security Solution for Native Office and PDF Attachments
Herndon, VA — January 13, 2010 — GigaTrust, the market leader in Enterprise Rights Management content protection software solutions that enhance and extend Microsoft’s Rights Management Services (RMS), today announced it has entered into a partnership agreement with DataViz, Inc. to license their Documents To Go® client software as part of the general availability of the new GigaTrust for BlackBerry® smartphones security solution.
Under the terms of the agreement, GigaTrust will extend Microsoft’s RMS to the DataViz Documents To Go standard edition plus PDF support for BlackBerry smartphones. Considered by some as the standard for BlackBerry smartphones, the Documents To Go standard edition has been preloaded by RIM® on more than 26 million BlackBerry smartphones. This tightly integrated product solution will enable organizations to implement consistent content security throughout the enterprise, after the content has been delivered even while it’s being used on a BlackBerry smartphone.
“DataViz believes that a partnership with GigaTrust offers enterprise clients the best of both worlds, using the Documents To Go applications they are familiar with on their smartphones and, now, with in-use content security capabilities from GigaTrust,” said Kathleen McAneany, Documents To Go, Business Manager BlackBerry at DataViz.
Unlike secure point-to-point messaging solutions that only protect data while in transit, GigaTrust for BlackBerry smartphones protects content at rest, in transit, and in use, allowing users to securely deliver and persistently protect emails and attachments while they are being read on the BlackBerry smartphone. Additionally, BlackBerry smartphone users can apply GigaTrust protection to outgoing email responses and messages. If email permissions allow forwarding, attachments remain protected whether they are accessed on a desktop or on a BlackBerry smartphone.
GigaTrust will sell this major upgrade directly to its customers under the GigaTrust for BlackBerry smartphones offering. This offering, a first of a kind product solution, will now support native viewing of RMS-enabled Microsoft® Word, Excel®, PowerPoint® & PDF files on a BlackBerry smartphone as well as HTML viewing of capabilities of protected emails.
“Clients tell us they want high fidelity viewing that mirrors the desktop experience…our partnership with DataViz meets that request head on by allowing us to provide persistent content security to DataViz’s Documents to Go suite of products,” said Darryl Worsham, Vice President of Business Development and Partner Products at GigaTrust. “Through this partnership, customers can maintain complete control over their valuable information regardless of location or user.”
