Description

Persistent Protection Encryption and user rights are embedded in each email and document. This embedded data stays with the email/document regardless of where they travel and which machine they sit on. They can only be opened by the authorized recipient and used according to the rights granted.
Rights Management:
  - Assignment Access rights assigned dynamically by the author (sender) or via a policy template
  - Permissions Any level of permission can be given to the user: View Only / Print / Copy / Edit / Save / Save As / Full Control
  - Forwarding Prevents forwarding of email
  - Protection options Secure entire email / message only / attachments only
  - Expiration The choices for the expiration of permissions are: Never / On (date) / After (#) (time period)
  - Revocation of Rights and Message Recall Author of protected content can revoke access to the protected content at any time. This feature is extremely useful for recalling or deleting an email sent by mistake, and deleting documents when no longer needed.
Offline / Online Modes The user can be restricted to use the documents online only or given the permission to go offline
Enterprise Enforceable Rules Automatic protection of outgoing email that meets predefined criteria.

Rules can be defined for email recipients or domains, text in the subject and/or text in the email body. Wildcard * supported for Domain rules. Protection rights are assigned per the template that is associated with the rule. Rules are prioritized to determine which rule goes into effect if an email meets the criteria of more than one rule.
Template Editor Create policy templates. Define users and their access (View, Print, Copy, etc.) permissions - on a per user basis. Content Access expiration and Use License expiration are defined for all users listed in the template.
Toolbar GigaTrust has an easy to use toolbar in Outlook. The Checkbox toolbar provides quick selection of permissions directly on the toolbar. More permissions are available via the Advanced window.

Enterprises can customize the toolbar.
Caching of Enterprise Templates and Rules The information is automatically cached locally thus making it available for online or offline use (even when online but not connected to the enterprise network). Cached information is used whenever content is protected (rather than going to the network source every time an enterprise template, etc. is used). A particular cache is updated, as necessary, when connected to the enterprise network.
Offline Publishing Create protected email and protect files when disconnected from the Internet. No need to wait for an Internet connection to protect information. Work as usual and when you reconnect to the Internet, you can then send your protected email/files.
File and Attachment Protection Protect and share files via any email client, portable media, or network. Folder files and any subfolder files are included when a folder is added to the list for protection.
File Types Protected All file types can be protected. File types with enhanced support are listed below. Other files are protected using the GigaTrust Envelope feature.

File types with enhanced support: DOC / RTF / XLS / PPT / PPS / HTML / PDF / MHTML / TXT / JPG / BMP / GIF / PNG / TIFF / WPD / QPW
Reporting/Auditing Allows author of content the ability to generate reports showing who has accessed their content and who has been denied access
Web Mail Support All web mail services (Yahoo, AOL, Google) and Outlook Web Access (OWA) are supported.
Cross Enterprise Activation and Provisioning Protected emails easily sent across the enterprise to any email address. Allows Automatic Activation, Authentication and Subscriber Enablement. It facilitates the ability to send an email from anyone to anyone.
BlackBerry and Wireless Support BlackBerry is supported and deployment to other wireless devices is planned.
Easy-to-Use Single sign-on for authentication, publishing and licensing. License acquired per session and policy template to decrease user access time.

Email protection rules go into effect automatically. Local and enterprise rules are possible and can be prioritized.
Zero Footprint Client An email recipient is authenticated and simply opens the email and attachment through ActiveX control. No heavy client download is required.
Protected Web Content and Web Portals Protect content via IIS / SPS / CMS. Protected SPS collaboration includes backwards compatibility with non-2003 versions of Outlook.

Option to disallow client-side caching of content. User must retrieve the latest - important if content is newly protected or if access permissions were changed.
